Count me among those wishing fervently for the return of the old face stones. I hate to make a negative review as I'm a big fan of these products but, seeing I'm not alone, I'd like to get my opinion counted. The Glow face stone was my #1 favorite kate mcleod product! 5 stars for the original, 2 for the stick version.

The packaging does not work - my lid would not go back on after the first time I removed it. But more importantly, it was already portable. Even if you keep it in the heavy glass jar on your vanity you can easily pull the cloth-wrapped stone out and it put it into just about anything for travel: a tsa-approved baggie, a makeup bag, a tin, a travel soapdish... I save the small ends of stones for travel and have several of different types saved up in their wraps just in one of the small cardboard boxes they came in. (another tip, I've melted small pieces of body stones in a silicone egg bite mold to make a new "stone" successfully too). Also, I really don't want a "face chapstick" !? Because it's something you wouldn't like to get on your hands? You don't in any case want to rub it in? That said, I just popped mine out of the tube and used a bit of the cloth from another stone for a wrap. It came out easily and cleanly and pretty quickly went from a cylinder to a more rounded "stone". Still fit into the jar too, just a little awkwardly until used a bit.

I was a glow face stone devotee, I was really sad when I got the email saying that the face stones were being discontinued and the face balm was taking their place but I thought, ok it seems similar to my favorite face stone, I'll give it a shot. This is a serious downgrade from the face stone, I'm sorry...from the packaging to the texture it's just a miss. I don't understand the need to fix what wasn't broken. The face stone was luxurious and did wonders for my skin. It really did give me glowing skin! This balm is smaller, not as silky or effective, and I really dislike the cardboard packaging. Trying to get the lid back on without destroying the rim of the part that holds the balm is impossible. I wound up just taking it out of the cardboard altogether and put it in my pretty glass jar that held my face stone. I did use the whole thing to give it a fair shot, but it's just not as good. Thankfully I still have one new glow face stone left from my last subscription delivery so I have a few months to decide what to do when that's gone. Please please please bring back the face stones!

I just finished the “old “ face stone in muslin (?) wrapping stored in a glass jar and just began using the “new” face stone in a paper container. I really like my glass container because it’s prettiness on the counter and because it provides protection from attracting sugar ants. I also noticed that the paper lid was hard to return to its paper packaging after its first use. At present, I use the face stone during upper body and facial gua sha massage. The older face stone seemed to leave an oiler residue on my skin than the current; making the glide of my gua sha stone easy but not a great thing as morning moisturizer before applying makeup for work. I use a different product for morning moisturizer. That ‘ease of glide/ oiliness could change as I use the new face stone. I have found a packaging solution that works for me. I discarded the new packaging lid, wrapped the body in a thin strip of muslin (?) and slipped the face stone in the new packaging body wrapped in muslin (?) in my glass container. I am quite pleased with the solution.
